Hosting your rack in Paris: which datacenter to choose
Paris concentrates most of the French interconnection. That is a real advantage and a real extra cost. This page explains where our Paris racks are, what each site actually brings, and in which cases another city would serve your project better.
Our sites in the Paris area
TH2 — Telehouse, rue Voltaire
The main French interconnection point. This is where the operators, the exchange points and a large part of the networks serving France meet each other. Placing equipment there shortens the path to almost everybody at once.
PAR2 — Vélizy
Tier 2 design with direct freecooling. The site where we place the workloads that call for capacity and stability rather than immediate proximity to the exchange points.
PAR3 — Vélizy-Latécoère
Tier 3 level design, N+1 redundancy on power and cooling. This is our most demanding Paris site in terms of availability.
What Paris actually brings
Interconnection density
We are present at 6 Internet exchange points, among them France-IX Paris and GNM-IX, each at 100 Gbps. From Paris, reaching a French network most often goes through direct peering rather than through a transit provider: fewer intermediaries, less latency, and a path that does not depend on a third party's order book.
Latency towards your French users
If your customers are in France, most of their requests end up in the Paris region. No other French location does better on that criterion.
The choice between several sites
Four Paris locations let us place your hardware according to what matters to you — interconnection, level of redundancy, or cost — instead of offering you the only site available.
When Paris is not the right choice
If you are building a disaster recovery plan, placing both copies in the Paris region does not protect you from a regional event: Tours is less than 5 ms away and sits on another power grid. If your traffic is mostly turned towards North Africa, the Middle East or Asia, Marseille will be shorter by a number of milliseconds you can see. And if what you are after first is the price per U, Paris is the tightest market in France: tell us, and we will point you elsewhere.
How much a rack in Paris costs
The prices are the same on all our sites: from €24.17 excl. VAT per month (€29 incl.) for 1U and 50 W, €332.50 excl. VAT (€399 incl.) for a quarter rack, €533.33 excl. VAT (€640 incl.) for a half rack and €708.33 excl. VAT (€850 incl.) for a full 42U rack. Those prices include the power: it is part of the rental and it is not metered to be re-invoiced afterwards. That is the point to check when you compare two quotations, because a "from" price that does not say whether electricity is included is not comparable with ours.
