Hosting your rack in Tours: leaving the Paris region without going far

Tours solves one specific problem: having a second room that shares neither the power grid nor the risk area of the Paris region, while staying less than 5 ms from Paris. This page explains who that is useful to, and who it is not.

Our Tours site

Cogent Tours

Tier 2 design, connectivity from 1 to 10 Gbps, latency under 5 ms to Paris. The site is connected to our AS212815 network and gives access to the same services as our other locations: IP transit, BGP, anti-DDoS, France-IX and GNM-IX.

What Tours actually brings

Real geographical separation

Less than 5 ms from Paris, but another region, another power grid, another incident area. That is what a disaster recovery plan needs, and it is exactly what a second room in the Paris region does not give you.

Latency that stays Parisian

Under 5 ms, the difference is invisible for a website, an API or a business application. You get the geographical separation without paying for it in response time.

The Centre-Val de Loire region

If your business, your teams or your obligations tie you to the region, hosting locally saves you having to explain why your data makes a daily round trip to Paris.

When Tours is not the right choice

Tours is a 1 to 10 Gbps site, on a Tier 2 design. If you need 100 Gbps, Tier 3 level redundancy or Paris interconnection density, Paris is what you need, and we will tell you so. Tours is an excellent second site and a good first site for a regional need — it is not the site on which you build a very high throughput platform.

How much a rack in Tours costs

Same prices as on our other sites: from €24.17 excl. VAT per month (€29 incl.) for 1U and 50 W, €332.50 excl. VAT for a quarter rack, €533.33 excl. VAT for a half rack, €708.33 excl. VAT for a full rack. The first month is free on all three 1U offers.

Is Tours an active site?
Yes. The site is in production, connected to our network, and we are taking new orders there.
Can I make Tours my backup site for Paris?
That is what our customers use it for most often. Both sites are on our AS212815 network, the latency is under 5 ms, and you do not pay for IP transit twice.
What connectivity is available in Tours?
From 1 to 10 Gbps, with IP transit, BGP, baseline filtering against attacks, reinforced anti-DDoS on request, and access to the France-IX and GNM-IX exchange points. Beyond 10 Gbps, you need to look towards Paris.
